Sim: Gin Rickey, a Berry-sim

Background

All right, so berry-sims aren't everyone's cup of tea. To be honest, they aren't really my thing either. But I have been needing a little change of pace lately. So I thought I'd give it a shot. This little berry was inspired by the Juniper berry (yes, I know it is not technically a true berry!) Historically used for a range of medicinal purposes, Juniper berries are now primarily used as a spice as well as the flavoring for gin. DRY Soda Company produces a Juniper Berry soda, which is one of my personal favorites. The sim is named after a classic cocktail, The Gin Rickey, which is made from gin, lime and seltzer (and thus her bubbly personality!)

About the Sim

Virginia "Gin" Rickey is a vivacious go-getter. Being an incurable optimist, her glass is always more than half-full and that is just the way she likes it. She is highly intelligent wide range of interests. While her willingness to try new activities makes her seem adventurous, but it is really her tendency towards restlessness which drives her inconsistency. Her current passions are split between the medical profession and her innate talents in the kitchen.

About the Character

Mr. Clean is the brand name of a cleaning solution and related products produced by Procter & Gamble. The product's iconic mascot, a muscular, tanned, bald man, was created in 1957 by Ernie Allen. While the basic idea of the character has remained consistent, he has underdone some stylistic changes over the years. My sim version is based on the modern animated television commercials, including "The Origin" and "Arm Wrestling".

What's in a name?

Though it is not often used, Mr. Clean does have a first name. It is "Veritably". He was granted this moniker in 1962 during the "Give Mr. Clean a Name" promotion. (And that is the sim's first name as well.) In Europe, Mr. Clean was renamed "Mr. Proper" ("Monsieur Propre" in France and "Meister Proper" in Germany) in order to avoid confusion with other products. In Spain, the original Mr. Clean is translated into "Don Limpio" while in Mexico, it's "Maestro Limpio". Regardless of the name changes, his appearance remains the same.

Maxwell Bauer, of the Bridgeport Bauers, is a bookish young man with a natural talent for computers. He has an almost archaic sense of manners that were impressed upon him during his numerous visits with his Grandmother, Glorianna, at her summer estate in the islands. The only thing Glorianna values more than good manners is a thirst for learning - another trait she impressed on her grandson.
